The first player we have to play in South America. Almada currently plays his football for Velez Sarsfield, in the top division of the Argentinian League. However, my gut feeling is that he won’t be at the club for much longer.
Velez Sarsfield are currently 4th in the league, ahead of the mighty Boca Juniors, showing the influence that this young man poses in his team. The 20 year old is the playmaker for the team and usually plays as the attacking midfielder, but he has also been used on the wings due to his speed. He is said to be one of the quickest in the league, alongside his great dribbling. However, he also has an eye for goal, scoring 22 times in 74 matches in all competitions in his senior career. In recent news, he has confirmed that he will be signing for Atlanta United in the MLS, which will hopefully help him develop further as an attacking midfielder. This will make him the most valued player in the MLS!
He has already played for the national team at a youth level, but has recently been called up by his manager, Lionel Scaloni, to play in the World Cup Qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil. This is quite an achievement as these 2 matches are arguably Argentina’s 2 most difficult opponents. This clearly shows that Scaloni has a lot of faith in this young man and believes he will deliver. Hopefully he will get the opportunity to go to Qatar to play in the World Cup as well. Currently Almada’s release clause is 25 million Euro and Atlanta United will snatch him up in the upcoming days. From there he will make his way to the big leagues and be a big talent for the future.
