As an avid Chelsea FC fan, it was a very disappointing day to see this young man leave the club to join Brighton FC. However, I must admit he still brings joy to a lot of people and to myself watching him play football. Although his professional career has only just started, at 20 years old, he seems to have all the great attributes to be a superstar for club and country.
Having watched Lamptey play in the 2020-2021 season for Brighton on a few occasions, I can categorically say he has the footballing ability of a full international player. More importantly, he has so much game awareness and knowhow already for such a young and inexperienced player. With more matches under his belt, I strongly believe he will become one of the finest full backs in the Premier league, and potentially in Europe.
He has made it up the ranks for the England Youth teams and it is without doubt that soon enough he will be called up to the senior squad to receive his first appearance for his country. Due to this young lad being a fullback there aren’t the same impressive statistics that a forward would have, but if you get a chance to see this young Englishman play for Brighton, you will quickly see why I have a lot of admiration for him and why I believe his future in football will be a very successful one.
