Tonali is a 21 year old central midfielder who currently plays in Serie A with AC Milan. He is one of the most exciting young Italian talents to arise in the past 2 or 3 seasons.
He started his career at Brescia, which also happened to be Andrea Pirlo’s first club. He made his debut in Serie B at the age of 17 and it was clear to see from such an early age that this young man would become a superstar. After making over 80 appearances for his hometown club and playing an integral part to get them promoted, he got his transfer to Serie A’s giant, AC Milan. Already this season he has managed 2 goals in 9 games, a very impressive rate considering he plays as a midfielder.
He is likened to the greats such as Pirlo and Iniesta because he is a box-to-box midfielder who is able to both do a great job screening his defensive teammates but he is also able to be creative further up the pitch. Having watched him play recently in both Serie A and the UEFA Champions League, it goes without saying that he is a young talent. He has a great range of passing and more importantly, he can achieve this with both feet. He has also been called up to the Italian national team in the past 2 years, making 4 appearances already. He is a classy yet effective player and he will be one of the best midfielders in the world for both his club and country in the next 3-4 years.
