The first goalkeeper to make an appearance so far, which makes the inclusion of Vandevoordt even more special. This young 19 year old who plays his football for the Belgian team Genk.
After playing youth football at other Belgian clubs, he found a way to Genk who are most seasons title challengers in the league. The league is a competitive one with the likes of Anderlecht, Standard Liege and Club Brugge. Genk are currently in the Europa League with Vandevoordt becoming the number one goalkeeper at the club at the tender age of 19. The other two goalkeepers at Genk are 19 and 18 respectively, making Vandevoordt the most experienced.
Goalkeepers are usually known to play into their late thirties and sometimes into their forties. Their prime usually comes in their early thirties which is a lot later than outfield players. This means that this young man has a lot of years to gain experience and learn from the best. He is already a class talent becoming the youngest goalkeeper to play in the UEFA Champions League in the 2019-2020 season, quite an achievement. I can guarantee over the next few years this man will become one of the best goalkeepers in European football, with hopefully many years of playing to come.
