This young man has caught the eye in recent weeks, both in domestic football but also in International football.
He is a Canadian born player but he plays his football for Romania and plays in the top league of Romanian Football for FCV Farul Constanța, who are currently 7th in the league. The reason why this 15 year old kid has hit the headlines recently is because he became the youngest ever player to score in the Romanian top flight at the age of 15 years and 6 months, which is an incredible achievement. On 14th November, he came on as a substitute for the National team in a 2-0 win over Liechtenstein. With this debut appearance he became the youngest European player to appear in a competitive international match! This is ridiculous!
So why is the hype so great for a 15 year old? Well earlier in his youth he came through the world famous ‘La Masia’, which is FC Barcelona’s youth academy. Players such as Messi, Iniesta and Xavi came through ‘La Masia’. This youth programme seems to produce world class players often, so I do not see why this young Romanian cannot be too. His club team, FCV Farul Constanța, is managed by the footballing icon Gheorghe Hagi. Hagi played in a very similar position to Sali, as an attacking midfielder so I believe that Sali is in very good hands with a Romanian legend coaching him everyday. Enes is a very pacey attacking midfielder who can also be versatile and play on the wing. He has great ball control and is a good dribbler, very similar to his mentor. He has already been heavily linked to a return to FC Barcelona and Galatasaray, the Turkish giants. Wherever this young man goes, I am sure he will light the place up with his footballing ability and he will grow stronger and stronger throughout his long career.
