Aurélien Tchouaméni - the Young Kanté

jxo855

A name that might be recognised by international football watchers, recently this man made his international debut for France. He currently plays his club football for AS Monaco in Ligue 1.

Another young French midfielder who seems to have a great work rate but also able to play proper football. Already making over 100 appearances for both club and country at a senior level, Tchouaméni is considered to be one of the best up and coming midfielders in world football. He recently caught the eye at the Nations League, helping his French team win the competition, beating fierce rivals Spain in the final. He also was part of the Ligue 1 team of the season last year and was voted the young best player in the same season, 2 extraordinary achievements for a young man.

Although he is a physical and attacking player at times, he is not known for his goalscoring, only netting 6 goals so far in his career. However do not let this fool you, as a central midfielder he commands the ball and keeps the play alive. He also is a big man and he uses his physical presence often to disrupt the opponent’s flow during matches. I am comparing him to a taller and stronger N’Golo Kanté. Now, I am a big N’Golo fan and I do not actually think that Tchouaméni will become better than his French teammate. However I do see a lot of similarities when watching them play. They are both very disciplined defensively but also are great at passing. Even if he doesn’t reach Kanté’s level, I know for sure he will be a class player for both AS Monaco and the French national team for years to come.
