Gouiri who currently plays for the French side, Nice, is a very talented young man, who has already earned a lot of plaudits in his young career so far.
The 21 year old plays as a striker or winger in Ligue 1. He had 3 seasons with the famous team of Olympique Lyon, but rarely got to play for them. He finally got to start playing football when he signed for Nice in the 2020-2021 season and has since played 45 times in the league. In these 45 games he has scored 18 goals which is a modest return. This season in his 18 games he has been involved in 11 goals, which is very impressive. However for such a young man, it is clear that this strike rate will only improve with time. He has also represented the French National team at all the youth levels but more prominently for the U21 team where he scored 2 consecutive braces in the 2018 UEFA Euro competition.
Having watched highlights of him in both Ligue 1 and in the Europa League, it is difficult to compare him to another striker. He seems to be an all round striker who is very mobile. Coming in at 5ft 11, he is not a massive number 9, but he also isn’t super fast like Mbappe. This makes him very difficult to categorise but also plays well into the mystery for defences. They are unsure what he is going to do, as his game is well rounded and is not predictable. I think within the next 2 or 3 seasons we will soon start to hear this mans’ name more and more.
